Starlink Announces New Subscription Rates Amid Inflation Concerns

Price Hike Takes Effect for New Customers, Existing Users to Pay More from October 31

Starlink Announces New Subscription Rates Amid Inflation Concerns

Satellite internet provider, Starlink, has raised its subscription fees, citing rising inflation as the reason behind the increase. The new pricing structure will affect both current and prospective customers, according to a message sent out by the company on Tuesday.

For new subscribers, the revised fees are already in effect, while existing users will experience the new charges starting from October 31, 2024. The company noted that the standard residential plan will now cost ₦75,000 per month. Those subscribed to the mobile regional package, known as “roam unlimited,” will now pay ₦167,000, while the mobile global package, offering “global roam,” will increase to ₦717,000.

Explaining the rationale behind the price hike, Starlink attributed it to “excessive levels of inflation,” which has driven up operational costs. The company said it was necessary to adjust subscription prices in order to keep pace with the current economic situation.

In a statement to customers, the company reassured that users have the option to discontinue their service without incurring any cancellation fees. “Your monthly service price will increase in one month, starting from 31 October 2024. For new customers, the price increase takes effect immediately,” Starlink clarified in the message.
