Calls Out International Silence Amid Escalating Violence

Lebanon's Prime Minister Condemns Israeli Strikes on Nabatieh
Najib Mikati

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on Nabatieh, which he claims deliberately targeted a meeting of the municipal council in the southern Lebanese town. Mikati’s office described the attack as part of a series of aggressions against civilians in the region.

In a statement, Mikati criticized the international community’s inaction, stating, “This new aggression, coupled with all the crimes committed by the Israeli enemy against civilians, is a design of the world that is deliberately silent about the crimes of the occupation, which encourages it to persist in its transgression and crimes.”

The prime minister also questioned the effectiveness of calling for a ceasefire through the United Nations if global powers remain incapable of stopping such attacks on Lebanese people. He expressed concern over the safety of peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon, adding, “What can deter the enemy from its crimes that have reached the point of targeting peacekeeping forces in the south? What solution can be hoped for in light of this reality?”

Mikati’s condemnation comes amid rising tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with both sides exchanging fire in recent weeks.
