After shutting down production in the wake of the pandemic earlier this year, the exterior scenes are set to be filmed first, according to Variety.

The information was revealed by actor Simon Pegg (who plays the character of Benji Dunn in the franchise) in a chat with the aforementioned news outlet.

Pegg mentioned that the plan for Mission Impossible 7 is a September restart, saying: “That will begin with the outdoors stuff. That feels fairly doable, and obviously, there will be precautions put in place.”

When asked about the logistics of resuming production, the Inheritance star said:

People that are involved in any close proximity stuff, it will have to be determined that they’re safe to do that. I don’t know what the testing situation is, how that works, or whether they’ll be able to be tested regularly.”

Resumption of a film of this caliber is sure to be a welcome boost to the film industry that has suffered since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Mission Impossible 7 first assistant director Tommy Gormley had earlier confirmed plans to resume shooting in the fall while speaking on BBC Radio’s Today program with the words, “We hope to restart in September. We hope to visit all the countries we planned to. We hope to do a big chunk of it back in the UK on the backlot and in the studio.”
