Extraction star Chris Hemsworth has teased fans about the physical transformation he will undergo in a biopic in which he will portray wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
For those who don’t know, Hemsworth was chosen by Hogan himself to play him in the movie to be directed by Todd Phillips, with Netflix owning the exclusive rights to the story.
The upcoming biopic will focus on Hulk Hogan’s early years in professional wrestling, tracking his rise from working small shows in Florida all the way to the height of Hulkamania in the 1980s.
Speaking in an interview with Total Film, Chris Hemsworth talked about the transformation process he will undergo to play the gigantic character on the bug screen.
This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.”
Hemsworth has the acting chops to pull off the role and if his ripped physique as the character of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is any indication, bulking up, even more, shouldn’t be a problem for him.
Filmmaker Michael Bay’s plans to begin production on his upcoming pandemic movie titled Songbird has been halted by a directive that has issued a ‘Do Not Work’ order on the project.
Described as a thriller in the vein of Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield, the plot of Songbird takes place two years in the future in a time when the pandemic hasn’t gone away.
It is said that no supernatural elements are present in the story but there is a government conspiracy and paranoia and how it impacts the cast of characters who remain in lockdown.
The production was scheduled to start shooting in Los Angeles but the production company “had failed to complete the signatory process and is therefore not signed to any applicable SAG-AFTRA agreement.”
SAG-AFRA has warned members that they could be disciplined if they work on Songbird.
The statement on the order can be seen below:
As such, SAG-AFTRA members are hereby instructed to withhold any acting services or perform any covered work for this production until further notice from the union. Please note, accepting employment or rendering services on ‘Songbird; may be considered a violation of Global Rule One. Violating this order may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the SAG-AFTRA Constitution.”
Marvel’s Black Widow is going to drop another trailer ahead of its planned release in the latter part of 2020.
This should be good news for MCU fans who even though have glimpsed the return of Scarlet Johansson as Natasha Romanoff in the earlier trailers, will welcome this latest news with joy.
The official synopsis of Black Widow reads:
At birth, the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.”
Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow co-stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz. It is scheduled for release on November 6, 2020.
