Investigation is currently underway in Jigawa into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious deaths of over 100 persons in Hadeja Local Government Area of the state.

Sani Kakabori, the Special Assistant to the Local Council Chairman on Media, confirmed the tragic development to newsmen, revealing that an average of 10 persons, mostly above the age of 50, have died everyday within the last ten days in the region.

The State Chairman, COVID-19 Task Force, who is also the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abba Zakari, has set up an investigation team led by Dr. Mahmud Abdulwahab, with Shehu Mohammed, Yusuf Hakimi, Shehu Sule, and a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) to unravel the mystery behind the sudden deaths.

According to the Commissioner, the committee is expected to submit their reports within three days.

The death have sparked widespread fears that there might be community spread of coronavirus in the state.

Jigawa’s mysterious deaths comes even as Kano State is still battling its fair share of casualties.

It was recently announced by the leader of the Presidential Task Force committee on coronavirus, Dr. Nasiru Gwarzo that the mysterious deaths in Kano was caused by the coronavirus.
