Even though he passed away a little over a week ago, George Floyd’s name is still creating an impact in the world as his GoFundMe campaign has gotten the highest number of donations.
With almost 500,000 donations and counting, the official George Floyd Memorial Fund has amassed nearly $13 million and according to a report by TMZ, the campaign has gone global with donations from 125 countries.
Floyd’s brother, Philonise, disclosed that the money realized will cover funeral and burial expenses, provide counseling, pay for lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and assist the family as their quest for justice continues.
A part of the funds will also go to Floyd’s estate to cater for his children and provide for their education.
The first of the four memorials for Floyd was held yesterday, Thursday, June 5, 2020, in Minneapolis. There will be another in North Carolina on Saturday and 2 in Houston next week.
