Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor John Boyega has claimed responsibility for the script which ended up on eBay.
The British-Nigerian actor disclosed this on the Good Morning America show hosted by Michael Straham.
Boyega said he was in the process of moving from his apartment when he left his script under his bed. He had intentionally done that, hoping to retrieve it the next morning.
I was moving apartments, and I left the script under my bed. I thought, ‘I’m going to leave it under my bed. When I wake up in the morning, I’ll take it, then move’. We started partying a little bit and the script just stayed there.
Then a few weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds this script and then puts it on eBay for like 65 pounds. So the person didn’t know the true value. And I actually thought, ‘This is a great opportunity for the fans to read the movie before they see it! Maybe I’m on to something!’ John Boyega
It’s good that the actor owned up to his mistake and even better that the leak was contained as anything further would have spelled doom for the movie.
John Adedayo B. Adegboyega known professionally as John Boyega is recognizable for playing Finn in the movies Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Boyega became famous in the United Kingdom for his role as Moses in the 2011 sci-fi comedy Attack the Block. He won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016.
