Veteran Hollywood actor Danny Aiello has died, breathing his last in a New Jersey medical facility after a sudden illness.

The actor who was known for roles in movies like The Godfather II (1974), Once Upon A Time In America (1984), and Do the Right Thing (1989) was 86 years old.

Aiello’s portrayal of a wide range of characters made him one of the most beloved actors of the past few decades and his role as Domenico Clericuzio in The Last Don (1997) was lauded by critics and fans.

Daniel Louis Aiello Jr. was born on June 20, 1933, and was an American actor who had a remarkable movie career in numerous films. He earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in the Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing. He was the fifth of six children, born in Manhattan and was of Italian descent.

Aiello made his movie debut in the 1970s and has featured with legendary actor Robert De Niro. He was also a singer, lending his vocals to movies like Hudson Hawk, Once Around, and Remedy.
