New details concerning the official trailer and the cinematic arrival of the upcoming New Mutants have emerged.
For those not in the know, New Mutants is the next chapter of the X-Men chronicles and was initially meant to be a follow-up to the hugely disappointing X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Co-written and directed by Josh Boone, it follows a group of powerful teenagers who are being held prisoners at a top-secret facility. The concept was to make as a horror movie but with Disney’s acquisition of Fox, several reshoots have been made and this has led to delays in the production schedule.
Now the director Boone has announced that a new trailer would be released online on Monday, January 6, 2020. The filmmaker also revealed that the release date of the film is April 1, 2020.
The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin (a.k.a. Magik), the younger sister of Colossus (recently seen in Deadpool 2), Game of Thrones alum Maisie Williams as Rhane Sinclair (a.k.a. Wolfsbane), Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa (a.k.a. Sunspot), Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar (a.k.a. Mirage), Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie (a.k.a. Cannonball), while Alice Braga will portray Cecilia Reyes, the mentor of the group. Additionally, Antonio Banderas will reportedly play a villain in a post-credit scene.
