UNCHARTED is a popular video game whose screen adaptation will star actor Tom Holland

The screen adaptation of the bestselling video game Uncharted starring Tom Holland has suffered a major setback in the form of director Travis Knight departing the project.

Deadline reports that the filmmaker had to leave due to scheduling conflicts on the part of Spiderman actor Tom Holland, who is expected to resume filming for the third Spidey movie next summer, delaying the Uncharted production.

Knight, who couldn’t afford to stick around for Holland’s schedule to be free, withdrew and that has led to the film’s release date being pushed back. Holland and fellow actor Mark Wahlberg still remain attached to the project.

The report further says that Sony still intends to move forward with the film and look for a new director and concerns may be raised as Knight is the seventh director to depart from the production.

Holland will play a young Nathan Drake in an origin story that “evolves out of the game but is not from the game.” The character becomes the treasure hunter that we know in the game and the current draft of the screenplay is written by Rafe Judkins.
