Spider-Man star Tom Holland is reportedly in talks to feature in the upcoming sequel to Venom.
Venom is a 2018 movie produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and saw Tom Hardy star as Eddie Brock, a journalist whose fusion with an alien entity leads the creation of the character known as ‘Venom’.
According to a report from Geek World Wide, Holland is currently in talks to appear as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The source, however, adds that negotiations are still ongoing and there is the possibility of a deal not being made.
Also, it has not been confirmed which version of Spider-Man would appear in Venom 2; it could be the one from the MCU played by Holland or another. Since Marvel isn’t behind the production of this film, it is likely that the Spider-Man here may not have anything to do with them.
It would be recalled that Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige said that Spider-Man could cross cinematic universes. His statement was:
Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.
While we can’t be really certain that Holland would be in the sequel, the ongoing negotiations with the actor cannot be dismissed out of hand and the possibility still stands.
Venom 2 will be directed by Andy Serkis and it will be released on October 2, 2020.
