Red Notice, an upcoming action comedy starring Dwayne Johnson has officially begun its shooting schedule as announced by the beefy actor.
The Netflix-helmed movie is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, a director who has worked with Johnson in two movies (Central Intelligence and Skyscraper).
Red Notice follows an Interpol agent who goes on a mission to track down the world’s greatest art thief. The film rights were acquired by Universal two years ago but after they dropped the project last summer, Netflix quickly swooped in to reclaim ownership and hired actor Ryan Reynolds as a co-star.
Johnson took to his Instagram page to announce that shooting had started, confirming Reynolds and Gal Gadot’s involvement as fellow cast members.
According to previous reports, Johnson is playing “the world’s greatest tracker”, Gadot is portraying “the world’s greatest art thief”, and Reynolds is “the world’s greatest conman” in the upcoming action-comedy.
Gadot is known for bringing the Amazonian warrior princess Diana Prince (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) in the DC movie of the same name and her outing solidified her as an action superstar.
Reynolds’ riveting role as the foul-mouthed, fast-talking superhero Deadpool and his other comic efforts make him one of Hollywood’s most sought after actors.
Johnson himself is the number one movie star on the planet and his busy schedule hasn’t stopped him from taking on more and more movie projects. It seems he is moving on from the tragedy of recently losing his dad and hopes to drown away the pain by going back to work.
The three movie stars are all that is needed to make the project outstanding and Netflix has made a smart move by bringing them together.
Red Notice is expected to arrive in 2021.
