Terry Jones, ‘Monty Python’ Comedy Team Member Dies At 77

Terry Jones, a founding member of the Monty Python comedy team has passed on at the age of 77.

Jones was a Welsh actor, writer, comedian, screenwriter, film director, and historian whose directorial work includes Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Erik the Viking, and The Wind in the Willows.

The news of his death was announced by his family in a statement saying that he was with his wife Anna Soderstrom at the time of his passing.

Terry passed away on the evening of 21 January 2020 at the age of 77 with his wife Anna Soderstrom by his side after a long, extremely brave but always good-humored battle with a rare form of dementia, FTD.”

Jones was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in 2015 and he became the public face of the illness. The ailment impairs the ability to speak and communicate and the actor died on January 21, 2020, from complications associated with the illness.

Terence Graham Parry Jones was born on February 1, 1942, and had a degree in English from Oxford University. Alongside his writing partner Michael Palin, he wrote and performed in different high-profile British comedy programs.

In 2016, Jones received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BAFTA Cymru Awards for his contribution to television and film.
