Nigerian film actor and fashion designer Ifu Ennada has reacted to the price of disposable face masks for the dreaded Coronavirus.
The former BBNaija star took to her Instagram page where she reacted to the sudden change of price of the disposable face masks price which was allegedly inflated from N750 to 10,000 is now 15,000 Naira in some Pharmacies in Lekki ever since the virus was detected in Lagos.
The award-winning actress is not finding this right as she wondered how the poor would be able to afford it and she is sure hand sanitizers and any other thing that can help curb Coronavirus will also face inflation in price.
Since this confirmation of Corona Virus in Lagos, the price of Disposable face masks has moved from 750 naira to over 10, 000 naira in some Pharmacies here in Lekki.
You can obviously tell these people are trying to make the most out of the situation, but isn’t this sort of hike in price supposed to be illegal? How do you increase the price of something by over 1,000% ? What should the poor who can’t afford it do? I’m sure Hand Sanitizers and any other thing that can help curb Corona Virus will also face inflation in price.
Personally, as a business person, I’d not take advantage of negative situation to rip people off of money. The only time I’d increase price is when there’s a significant increase in cost of production and the increase will be a gradual process.
Away from the above, is it advisable for one to suspend their staff while this Corona Virus situation is being handled to avoid any chance of spreading the Virus in work place?
