Harvey Weinstein’s legal team has started making moves to appeal his conviction as he continues to receive treatment from a New York hospital.
Days after his rape conviction, Weinstein who was admitted to Bellevue on Monday, awaits a possible transfer to Rikers Island jail before his sentencing.
The disgraced movie producer was placed on admission following concerns about high blood pressure and heart palpitations.
During his trial, one of his lawyers, Donna Rotunno, revealed to the judge that Weinstein was suffering from back injuries he sustained from a car crash last summer. He said that the condition required shots in his eyes to prevent blindness.
Another lawyer named Arthur Aidala told the Hollywood Reporter that neither Weinstein nor his legal team requested the admission. He said it was a decision made by the New York City Department of Corrections.
Aidala stated that discussions to appeal the court verdict had already begun and that Weinstein gave some directions on how to proceed.
Weinstein is due to be sentenced on March 11, 2020.
