We are currently in the era of reboots and live-action remakes, but none might be as unique as that of a cat and mouse trying to outdo each other.

Few can say they didn’t watch the animated American franchise comedy shorts created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera while growing up. Well, they are about to be reminded of just how much fun the lousy duo of Tom and Jerry can be with the upcoming live-action remake.

Starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, and Rob Delaney, Tom and Jerry is directed by Tim Story and will be released on December 23, 2020, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Pena who plays a central character named Terrance recently spoke about being a part of the movie, praising his co-star Moretz and the film’s director.

He said:

“Oh, man, that was so cool. Sometimes, you show up on these movies, and the actor is still trying to find it. I don’t know if they’re not prepared or whatever, but it happens every so often. But, Chloe Moretz was so on the money… She knew the script, and she was just awesome to go back and forth with. And Tim Story is just a stud.

There are some directors who are good indie directors or good dramatic directors, but he’s a big movie director. He’s meant to be doing big movies. It didn’t seem like work when we were on set with the guy. He just wants fun, and fun is what we gave him. You always want to perform for your director, because he’s your first audience, and he was really easy to perform for. There’s a certain freedom that you want, especially for that kind of family movie. And sometimes, you don’t want that freedom. You want there to be a little bit of an edge and a little bit of tension. You can definitely sense that on some films

Moretz will play a girl who works in a hotel. She will encounter the crazy animals and fans can only guess what happens next. It seems Pena will also work at the hotel.

It is hoped that the live-action movie will retain the elements that made the cartoon so lovable across all ages.
