Streaming giant Netflix is making a movie adaptation of the ‘80s arcade game Dragon’s Lair and Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star.
Dragon’s Lair was originally released in 1983 by Cinematronics and the game made use of laserdisc technology, bringing superior graphics and feature film quality animation from Don Bluth Studios.
The live-action feature adaptation will be produced by Roy Lee via his Vertigo Entertainment, with Trevor Engelson of Underground Films.
Reynolds will also produce through his Maximum Effort production company, and Dan and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie) are set to write the script.
Dragon’s Lair game puts players in the shoes of Dirk the Daring as he makes the attempt to rescue Princess Daphne from the dragon Singe and the wizard Mordoc.
Reynolds starred in the Netflix action film 6 Underground and was shooting the streaming platform’s other movie Red Notice alongside Dwayne Jonhson and Gal Gadot before production had to be halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
