Now You See Me 3 is in the works and Lionsgate has hired American Hustle writer Eric Warren Singer to write the script.
The films center on a group of magicians whose daring performances put them in different difficult positions, often coming into contact with oppositions who are out to foil their plans.
Jesse Eisenberg , Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo and Dave Franco reprised their roles in Now You See Me 2, with new arrivals Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Radcliffe being introduced.
The first two movies made $687 million globally, and writer Singer’s version will bring in new characters while the old characters return as well.
Nathan Kahane, President of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement:
“Eric [the writer] has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all its forms and he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of ‘Now You See Me’ and pushes The Four Horsemen to whole new level, with our key returning cast and new characters.
The ‘Now You See Me’ franchise has been built on keeping the audience surprised and guessing. Any great magician knows, you can’t keep doing the same tricks. And Eric and his team of illusionists have something special up their sleeve for this new film.”
