Ball & Chain, the superhero film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, is heading to Netflix.
The upcoming movie was announced earlier this month and several studios were interested in the project. It is based on the comics which was released in the 1990s and stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt as superheroes whose powers are dependent on each other.
THR reports that Ball and Chain has been nabbed by the streaming giant, with both Johnson and Blunt producing while starring at the same time.
This marks the second joint feature of the two leads, as they are set to be seen next summer in Disney’s Jungle Cruise based on the popular Disney Parks attraction.
Emily V. Gordon is adapting the comic of Ball and Chain to film. It will be Blunt’s first time producing and Johnson released a statement about the news, calling Netflix “the perfect partner to deliver this epic superhero/romantic comedy experience alongside us.”
Referencing his past work with Blunt, Johnson said, “I’m also excited to not only reunite with dear friend Emily Blunt in front of the camera but to also collaborate as producing partners as we bring Emily V. Gordon’s script to life.”
