It was recently revealed that acclaimed filmmaker George Miller planned to focus on the character of Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road) in a spinoff film that would explore her solo story with a younger version of the character.

Miller stated that he had considered using CGI to de-age Theron but that since the technology hadn’t gotten to where he wanted it to, that would no longer be an option.

Now, THR reports that Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) is in the running to play Furiosa in the untitled spinoff feature.

Casting Comer would be a wise decision as she has proved that she is a great actress in a career that has seen her get several nominations, culminating in her taking home the Best Actress Emmy last year.

She also stars alongside Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming action-comedy Free Guy, as well as in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver.

Also, Comer obviously bears a striking resemblance to Theron, and so could easily pass for her younger self. These make casting her as Furiosa a good decision (one that many fans will hope to be finalized soon).

Director Miller has reportedly considered actress Anya Taylor-Joy as well so it might come down to who shows she has got what it takes to pull it off, and not who resembles the original Furiosa.
