Nick Jonas and Laurence are starring in The Blacksmith, an action thriller from Pierre Morel.
The news was announced yesterday by AGC Studios’ Stuart Ford, and the upcoming feature will see both stars unite in the film from the Taken director.
The Blacksmith has its source material from the graphic novel from Kickstart Comics by Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman. It follows a weapons expert who goes on the run from killers who had his colleagues murdered.
The graphic novel was adapted from Source Code writer Ben Ripley, with AGC Studios and Jon Shestack producing along with Kickstart Productions’ Jason Netter and Jeremy Stein.
Production on the film is scheduled for the latter part of 2020. The synopsis reads:
Wes Loomis (Jonas) is a “Blacksmith” – the intelligence community’s go-to weapons expert. When his clandestine lab is destroyed and his colleagues murdered, Wes must go on the run with only his unique set of technological skills and the help of a brilliant, young CIA analyst Noelle Hazlitt to keep him alive. They seek out Mather (Fishburne) a retired blacksmith and Wes’ mentor, to guide them on a journey that keeps this improbable pair one step ahead of their pursuers in a breathless, action-filled thriller that is just the beginning of the globe-trotting adventures of “The Blacksmith.”
Jonas was recently seen in Jumanji: The Next Level opposite Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, while Fishburne was part of the cast of the third John Wick movie.
