Kourtney Kardashian has revealed the steps she will take in making sure her children do not abuse their white privilege.
The reality star made the recent comments in relation to the troubling George Floyd incident in Minneapolis last week where he was killed by a white cop.
Floyd’s first memorial service was held yesterday and many celebrities were in attendance to stand with the bereaved family to mourn the loss of a life unjustly taken.
Sharing a lengthy post on her Instagram account, Kourtney Kardashian explained the importance of having honest conversations with her three kids about racial inequality.
Part of her post reads:
As a mother, there is a natural instinct to protect my children from anything that might make them feel sad or unsafe. The pain and suffering inflicted by racism is not a thing of the past and I bare the responsibility to speak with my kids honestly and often about it, even when the truth is uncomfortable.
I have to make sure they understand what it means to have white privilege and to take the time to learn and discuss Black History, beyond just one short month out of the year.”
Kourtney had on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, pledged on behalf of Poosh that the brand (which is into lifestyle and wellness) would continue the conversation when racism and inequity would no longer be a trending topic.
