Golf icon Tiger Words has responded to the tragic incident involving George Floyd and the ensuing protests in the United States.
The sportsman released a statement on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, identifying with those hurting from the dark episode while sympathizing with Floyd’s family.
Woods said that he has always had the utmost respect for law enforcement and that the shocking tragedy crossed the line. He recalled the riots of Los Angles, pointing out that education is the best path forward.
His words:
My heart goes out to George Floyd, his loved ones and all of us who are hurting right now,” he wrote in a statement, posted to Twitter. “I have always had the utmost respect for our law enforcement. They train so diligently to understand how, when and where to use force. This shocking tragedy clearly crossed that line.
I remember the LA riots and learned that education is the best path forward,” Tiger added. “We can make our points without burning the very neighborhoods that we live in. I hope that through construction, honest conversations we can build a safer, united society.”
