Following the total ban placed on the operations of commercial motorcycles in some parts of Lagos, some riders on Thursday blocked the Mile 2-Ojo-Badagry Expressway to protest against the ban.

Operatives of the Lagos State task force also impounded over 150 motorcycles while enforcing the state’s ban on the operations of motorcycles.

OduNews.com learnt that many of the okada riders initially resisted the task force operatives from impounding their motorcycles which resulted in friction between these riders and the task force officers.

Speaking on the development via his Twitter handle, Jubril Gawat, a media aide to the Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the POkada riders blocked the Mile 2-Ojo-Badagry Expressway in protest of the ban announced by the state government.

He said, “Sequel to the protest by okada operators & total blockage of Mile 2-Ojo-Badagry Expressway today 19/5/22, Taskforce Crack Squad Clampdown on the riders before their action degenerates into state of breakdown of laws and order.

“Arrests have been made, Over 150 motorcycles impounded and illegal shanties on that route demolished.

The Lagos state government had on Wednesday announced a total ban on the operations of Okada in six local governments in the state.
