The Labour Party in Rivers State has officially announced its endorsement of Simimialayi Fubara, the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, for the upcoming gubernatorial elections scheduled for March 11. Deinye Pepple, the state Chairman of the Labour Party, made this announcement at a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Pepple explained that the decision to endorse Fubara was based on the fact that his senatorial district, the South East Senatorial District, has not produced a governor for Rivers State since its creation. According to Pepple, this endorsement of Fubara is a strategic move aimed at ensuring that the Labour Party and its members remain true to their values and remain at the forefront of defending the interests of the people.
Pepple emphasized that the Labour Party’s decision to endorse Fubara is in line with its “Obidient” movement, which sets it apart from all other political parties in the state. The Labour Party believes that voting for a riverine candidate from the South East Senatorial District is the right choice to make, as it will ensure that the interests of the people are well-represented and their voices are heard at the highest levels of government.
