The House of Representatives has raised doubts about the authenticity of the alleged launch of Nigeria Air during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a fraudulent venture.
Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, has expressed skepticism regarding the project after key stakeholders involved in the deal between the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines denied any knowledge of the launch, as reported by The Punch.
On Friday, May 26, an aircraft painted in Nigeria Air colors landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, celebrated the arrival of the plane as a significant step in revitalizing Nigeria’s national carrier.
However, members of the House of Representatives have raised concerns and questioned the legitimacy of the aircraft’s purported launch. The management of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) informed the House Committee on Aviation that the aircraft adorned with Nigerian colors was actually on a chartered flight to Nigeria.
