The tragic incident, which occurred on September 12, left fans devastated, and now, a police investigation is underway to uncover the truth behind the singer’s untimely demise.

Mohbad, born on October 9, 1994, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, was laid to rest on September 13, a day after his sudden death. The singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, came forward on September 14, revealing that his son had passed away due to a fatal injection administered by an auxiliary nurse.

Iyabo Ojo, a prominent figure in the Nollywood film industry, took to her Instagram page on Wednesday night to share a video message with her followers. In the video, she provided updates on her visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the progress made in the investigation of Mohbad’s death.

During her address, Ojo stated that the police had made significant headway in the case, including the arrest of the nurse involved. She went on to reveal that more arrests were imminent, as the authorities were actively pursuing leads.

Ojo stated, “They are going to do the autopsy… they have made some arrests. The nurse has been arrested, that I know. That is the only information I can give you right now… they have arrested some people. They are asking some people to turn themselves in.”

In a press conference held on the same day, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, emphasized the force’s commitment to a thorough investigation. He announced that invitation letters had been sent to individuals of interest in connection to Mohbad’s death, urging them to come forward and cooperate with the authorities to clear their names. Owohunwa sternly warned that those who failed to honor the invitation would be declared wanted by law enforcement.

Furthermore, Commissioner Owohunwa revealed that if any persons of interest were found to be outside Nigeria’s jurisdiction, the police force would seek the assistance of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to ensure a comprehensive investigation.

The tragic loss of Mohbad has struck a chord with thousands of fans across Nigeria, leading to nationwide protests demanding justice for the late singer. Candlelight processions have been organized in his honor, as the nation awaits further developments in the ongoing investigation.

The Nigerian entertainment industry and the wider public will undoubtedly be closely following this case as more details emerge, hoping for a transparent and just resolution to the mystery surrounding the young artist’s death.
