In a startling development, acclaimed US actor Jamie Foxx and Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose have been accused of sexual assault in lawsuits filed in New York just ahead of the statute of limitations deadline.
The allegations have been made by two different accusers, adding to the growing list of high-profile #MeToo cases.
Axl Rose Accused of Sexual Assault Dating Back to 1989
Sheila Kennedy, a well-known actress and model, has accused Axl Rose of sexually assaulting her in 1989. In her legal filing, Kennedy alleges that the frontman of the legendary rock band “Guns N’ Roses” engaged in non-consensual sexual activities with her, leaving her feeling overpowered and traumatized.
This lawsuit against Axl Rose has been made possible by the New York Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims of sexual assault to pursue legal action even if the incidents occurred many years ago. The complaint demands that Rose, whose real name is William Bruce Rose, faces a jury trial and seeks punitive damages for Kennedy.
The alleged assault is said to have taken place in a New York hotel room following their meeting at a nightclub. Kennedy’s lawyers assert that she feared physical harm or worse if she refused Rose’s advances.
The complaint further claims that Axl Rose used his celebrity status and power in the music industry to manipulate and control Kennedy, ultimately leading to the violent assault.
Guns N’ Roses, renowned for hits like “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” has yet to make an official statement regarding these allegations.
Jamie Foxx Accused of Groping Incident in 2015
In a separate case, a woman identified only as Jane Doe has accused Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx of sexual assault. According to the allegations, Foxx intentionally used force and without consent groped her breasts and genitals at a rooftop bar in Manhattan in 2015.
Similar to the Axl Rose case, this lawsuit is filed under the New York Adult Survivors Act, providing victims the opportunity to seek justice for past incidents of sexual assault. The plaintiff calls for a jury trial against Jamie Foxx, whose real name is Eric Marlon Bishop, with the possibility of punitive damages.
The complaint states that the plaintiff has suffered lasting emotional distress and physical injuries as a result of the sexual assault, abuse, assault, and battery allegedly committed by Foxx.
Jamie Foxx, known for his acting, comedy, and Grammy-winning singing career, won an Academy Award in 2005 for his role in the Ray Charles musical biopic “Ray.” He was also nominated for an Oscar for “Collateral” in the same year.
These lawsuits follow a recent rape complaint against rapper Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, filed under the Adult Survivors Act by R&B singer Cassie (Casandra Ventura). However, the parties involved in that case have since reached a resolution, the terms of which remain undisclosed.
These high-profile cases highlight the ongoing struggle for justice and accountability in the entertainment industry and the importance of supporting survivors of sexual assault. Both Jamie Foxx and Axl Rose have yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
