Police arrest three NSCDC officers over Mining Marshal’s death

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps over the death of their senior colleague, Agada Levi Agada, during an operation in Nasarawa State.

Agada was shot while on duty at Rafin Gabas in the Agwada area. The police began investigating after the family's lawyer filed a petition. The three arrested NSCDC personnel are Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu and Iwodi Obochi, all from the Mining Marshals Unit.

The investigation has uncovered something else entirely. Police traced over N2 billion to a bank account belonging to Sergeant Labaran, an NSCDC Mining Marshal. The account number is 1008392780 at Zenith Bank. Investigators found evidence of transfers moving money to and from accounts belonging to other suspects, but they are still working to understand what these transactions represent and whether they connect to Agada's death.

Several other Mining Marshal personnel were invited for questioning but refused to show up. The police said they are continuing their investigation and have not ruled out additional arrests. The force's Intelligence Department is handling the case and pursuing leads on both Agada's death and the suspicious financial activity.
