The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has condemned the actions of a man seen in a viral video smoking while carrying a small child.
The location and identities of those involved in the disturbing video, which surfaced on social media, remain unknown.
In a statement made via his verified Twitter handle, NPF spokesperson Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi called for more information about the individual and emphasized the need to hold him accountable under the law.
Adejobi also highlighted the apparent lack of responsibility displayed by the parents or caregivers who allowed the child to be put in such a dangerous situation.
“Every one of us can see this again. How did he get the baby? His son? Or niece or cousin? Whatever it is, mothers must learn from this, do not entrust your baby to the wrong hands,” Adejobi wrote.
“Not everyone can babysit or take care of your baby for u. We need more info about him. He must be caused to face the wrath of the law. This is too bad. But above all, mothers must learn from this.”
He added that the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant about who is caring for our children and ensuring their safety at all times.
