Roberto Calenda, the agent representing Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen, issued a stern warning on Tuesday, asserting his intention to pursue legal action against the club following a disturbing incident on the official Napoli TikTok account.
The controversy unfolded after Napoli’s official TikTok page posted a video that mocked Victor Osimhen, only to swiftly delete it on Tuesday. In response, Calenda took to X, the popular messaging platform (formerly known as Twitter), to express his outrage and concern over the incident, emphasizing that it had caused “very serious damage to the player.”
In his statement, Calenda declared, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” said Calenda. We reserve the right to take legal action and any other useful initiative to protect Victor.”
As of now, Napoli has not responded to inquiries for comments, and their response to this developing situation remains unknown.
This unfortunate incident occurred in the aftermath of Napoli’s recent Serie A match against Bologna, which ended in a goalless draw on Sunday. Victor Osimhen had a pivotal moment in the game, missing a late penalty kick.
Following this, he was substituted as the match drew to a close, and his reaction raised eyebrows as he appeared to express his dissatisfaction by shouting at coach Rudi Garcia before exiting the pitch.
However, in a subsequent statement, Coach Rudi Garcia downplayed the situation, seemingly eager to maintain team cohesion and focus on their upcoming fixtures. Napoli, the reigning champions, currently stand seventh in the Serie A standings and are gearing up to face Udinese in a home match scheduled for Wednesday.
The incident on TikTok has undoubtedly added a layer of controversy to Napoli’s season, and it remains to be seen how the club and Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, will navigate this sensitive situation in the days to come.
