Flutterwave promotes 100+ staff, unveils global relief package

Flutterwave has promoted a quarter of its global workforce and rolled out a relief package that includes cost-of-living adjustments, tax support for Nigerian employees, and one-time payments for all staff worldwide.

The payments technology company, which processes billions in transactions across Africa annually, made the announcement as part of what it calls an employee recognition and support initiative. The move affects over 100 workers across Flutterwave's offices in Lagos, London, New York, and other locations where the company operates.

Beyond the promotions, Flutterwave extended cost-of-living adjustments to cushion employees against inflation that has ravaged household budgets globally. Nigerian staff get additional tax support, a targeted measure that acknowledges the particular pressure on workers in Africa's largest economy where the naira has weakened sharply against the dollar this year.

All employees, regardless of location, will receive a one-time economic relief payment. The company did not disclose the amount or breakdown of this payment, but framed it as recognition that staff have navigated a tough economic climate while helping build Flutterwave into Africa's most valuable fintech startup.

The initiative comes as tech companies across Africa grapple with retaining talent amid global economic uncertainty. Several startups have cut staff this year, but Flutterwave's move signals the opposite direction. The company, valued at roughly $3 billion in its last funding round, has grown to become a critical payments infrastructure for merchants, banks, and fintechs across the continent.

Flutterwave did not announce when these changes take effect or provide a timeline for implementation. The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to building "one of the continent's most desirable places to work."
