American actress Bella Thorne has been signed on to star in The Uncanny, a post-apocalyptic thriller from director Mitzi Peirone.
Written by Peirone and Chaya Doswell, the film depicts a future where the citizens are implanted with a chip that controls everything from emotions to directions, until a routine update backfires, leading to a cyber apocalypse.
With most of humanity wiped out, five strangers survive and are forced to hide in a bunker with their implants ripped from their spines.
The survivors count themselves lucky to have survived until one of them named Scarlet (Thorne) begins to suspect that their being saved had nothing to do with chance or luck.
Sounds like an intriguing plot and the presence of suspense should make the science-fiction movie worth the price of admittance at the cinemas.
The Uncanny will be produced by Rebecca Berrih, Thor Bradwell, and Courtney Shepard. Speaking about the upcoming project, Shepard had this to say:
The story offers a timely and compelling glimpse into human’s dependence on technology and the greater evils of such addiction. We’re excited to have Bella on board for such a strong female-led team. I have no doubt Mitzi will craft something visually and thematically stunning.
