Why John Cena May Not Be The Bad Guy In ‘Fast 9’ Movie
The epic confrontation between the Toretto brothers is one of the film’s highlights

This past Friday proved to be one that movie fans will remember as it saw the release of the official trailer for the upcoming F9: The Fast Saga, giving audiences a glimpse of John Cena as the antagonistic younger brother of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto.

Well, contrary to popular opinion, Jakob Toretto (Cena’s character’s name) may not be the film’s primary villain as the series is known for having unexpected twists.

If there is anything that trailers do very well, it’s misdirection. We all saw how Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs was introduced as an opposing powerhouse and how he ended up joining the family.

It isn’t far-fetched to say that the producers could be messing with us by making us think that Jakob is the film’s big bad. What if the antagonist is someone that isn’t even in the trailer?

Speaking at last week’s The Road to F9 fest, Vin Diesel noted that the characters in the film are multi-dimensional (and this includes Jakob Toretto) and Cena himself supported this by saying:

We’ll leave it for the audience, we’ll leave it for the Fast family around the world to decide who’s bad and who’s good. Keep in mind, the trailer shows just enough for you to have a ton of questions — and me not to be able to answer any of them!

What the above means is that even the worst characters could turn around to find the inner goodness in them. So, that could be a potential spoiler saying that Cena’s Jakob will join the gang and possibly assist them in their fight against the main villain.
