Noomi Rapace is set to star in the Black List thriller O2, an upcoming film directed by Franck Khalfoun.

According to Deadline, the actress will play a woman who wakes up in cryogenic medical pod with no memory and way out. With her oxygen supply rapidly running out, she must find a way to survive.

Crawl director Alexandre Aja will produce and Rapace’s involvement is a plus as she is known to bring a commitment to whatever project she works on.

Production is due to start this summer and Aja has praised the script, calling it “one of the most compelling scripts” he has read in years.

Touted as a pure survival experience with a great mystery at its core, Aja also noted that the suspense in the plot left him breathless.

Noomi Rapace is a Swedish actress who gained worldwide fame with her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.

She earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress for her role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
