Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will not play in Nigeria's friendlies against Poland and Portugal next month, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said.
The two key players featured in the Unity Cup, which ends before the international window. Chelle decided to rest them ahead of the back-to-back matches scheduled for June. Nigeria faces Poland on Wednesday, June 3, then Portugal on Wednesday, June 10.
Both Osimhen and Lookman were originally included in squad plans for the fixtures. But Chelle's decision to exclude them suggests he wants to manage their workload after the Unity Cup campaign. The absences will test squad depth as the Eagles prepare for these high-profile encounters.
Chelle will now select replacements from his wider pool of players. The Poland match comes first, followed by the Portugal test six days later. These friendlies serve as preparation for upcoming competitive fixtures on the African and global stage.
