Troops arrest suspected kidnapper in Kaduna, recover phone and cash

Soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested a man suspected of kidnapping in Kamuru village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State early on May 12.

The suspect, Husaini Jibrin, 45, was picked up at 3:30 a.m. during a joint security raid in the community. According to security sources quoted by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on social media, Jibrin was linked to a kidnapping that happened on April 26 in Angwan Ali, also in Zangon Kataf.

Preliminary investigations suggested Jibrin had a hand in planning and carrying out the abduction. The incident had unsettled residents of neighbouring communities who feared more attacks. Soldiers and members of the CJTF have intensified operations in the area to flush out criminal elements.

Operatives recovered a mobile phone and N10,000 cash from Jibrin during the operation. The items are now part of the investigation file. Sector 7 of Operation Enduring Peace, which covers the general area, has been coordinating with local vigilante groups to improve security and gather intelligence on criminal networks active in the zone.

Investigators will continue to question Jibrin to establish the full extent of his involvement in kidnapping operations and identify other members of his gang. The case will be handed over to the police for formal prosecution once the military phase of investigation concludes.
