The Labour Party will hold a National Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to ratify results from primary elections conducted across the country for the 2027 general elections. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, announced the decision in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.
The NEC meeting will comply with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026 and will bring together statutory NEC members, candidates who emerged from the primaries, INEC officials, party organs, media representatives and members of the general public. The party described the gathering as strategic, marking the first NEC session since its recent National Convention where it nominated candidates for the 2027 polls.
According to Asogwa's statement, the NEC will ratify primary results across all states and approve the submission of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission in line with the Electoral Act and party constitution. The meeting will also serve to formalise the party's preparations as it gears up for the general elections.
Immediately after the NEC ratifies the results, the Labour Party will commence presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates for President, Governor, Senate and House of Representatives positions. The party said the meeting holds strategic importance for its overall preparations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections.
