JAMB UTME exams run smoothly across Ibadan test centers

Students sitting the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination across Ibadan on Tuesday reported seamless operations, with computer systems functioning properly and test centers running according to schedule. A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent who visited multiple Computer-Based Test centers in Oyo State's capital found that candidates began their examinations on time and encountered minimal technical problems during the morning sessions.

At the Arc Bamidele Samson CBT Centre, candidate Adebanke Oyedele arrived at 9.00 a.m. and started her examination punctually. She described her experience as smooth and engaging, noting that while some other candidates raised concerns, her own test proceeded without interruption. Oyedele, who hopes to study Mass Communication at the University of Ibadan, projected scoring approximately 250 marks on the examination.

Agwaza Simon, another test-taker at the same center, expressed satisfaction with how the exam was conducted. He reported that there were no system failures or network issues during his session and that everything ran well. Simon plans to pursue Accounting at the University of Ibadan and appeared confident in his performance based on the conducive testing environment.

Isak Sherifu, also examined at Arc Bamidele Samson CBT Centre, praised the examination environment as peaceful and well-organised. He noted the complete absence of technical glitches and commended the center's officials for their professionalism throughout the morning's operations. Ayomide Busari, another candidate who took the test at the same location, reported that her examination proceeded smoothly without any network disruptions. She intends to pursue Law at the University of Ibadan.

Parents accompanying candidates to the centers also confirmed the orderly nature of the exercise. Olubunmi Komolafe, whose daughter sat the examination at Arc Bamidele Samson CBT Centre, arrived before 9.00 a.m. and watched as her daughter began testing shortly after the hour. Komolafe stated that the entire exercise remained peaceful with no internet-related issues throughout the morning.

At JAMB's Zonal Office in Ibadan, where another testing venue operates, candidates also commenced their examinations as scheduled with no technical glitches reported. A JAMB ad-hoc supervisor at the Arc Bamidele Samson CBT Centre declined to speak with journalists, stating he lacked authorization to comment to the media about the day's proceedings.

The successful operation of these Ibadan centers contrasts with concerns raised in some other testing locations across Nigeria in previous examination cycles. The smooth conduct observed on Tuesday suggests that infrastructure improvements and better coordination among test centers may be yielding positive results. JAMB is expected to continue monitoring all examination centers nationwide as the UTME process unfolds over the coming weeks, with officials working to maintain the standard demonstrated in Ibadan.
